Preview

One of the SEC's fiercest rivalries will get another installment this weekend when the Florida Gators travel to Death Valley and take on the LSU Tigers.

Florida has seen their season shadowed by a pair of hard-fought SEC battles. After putting a real scare on Alabama, the Gators would lose on the road to Kentucky after struggling offensively in the second half.

LSU has gotten off to an unusual slow start this season. The Tigers dropped their opening contest to UCLA, and began conference play dropping two of their first three games.

Offensive matchup
Florida (4-2, 2-2)

Emory Jones continues to improve during his junior season. The junior quarterback responded to trouble in the Bluegrass with a big game against Vanderbilt last weekend. Jones went 14-22 for 273 passing yards, with a career-best four touchdowns to one interception.

Jones leads the Gators in rushing as well with 478 rushing yards on the season and a pair of touchdowns. Damien Pierce leads the backfield with 238 yards and seven rushing touchdowns. Jacob Copeland gives Jones a reliable threat on the outside, and he leads the team with 21 catches for 370 receiving yards.

LSU (3-3, 1-2)

Max Johnson is having a strong year statistically, but it hasn't churned out winning results so far. The sophomore quarterback went 22-38 for 261 passing yards with a touchdown against Kentucky, but he couldn't get the offense going early enough.

The Tigers aerial attack, appears to be a lot on the young quarterback, but Tyrion Davis-Price's last outing should provide optimism for the offense. The Tigers finally got the junior back going last weekend, as he turned 22 carries into a career-high 147 rushing yards, and his first two scores of the season.

Kayshon Boutte is the next great LSU wide receiver to come through Baton Rouge. The sophomore wideout has been the team's most consistent threat outside, catching at least five passes and scoring in every game prior to last weekend. Boutte leads the Tigers with 38 catches for 509 receiving yards, and an SEC-leading nine touchdowns.

Prediction

Florida has played better football through the first month of the season, but we like the idea of spotting the Tigers 10 points in Death Valley here. Look for them to utilize the run game, and take a more physical approach.

Take LSU's spread cautiously here, as they look to stop the bleeding early.

PICK: Oregon Ducks -11.5
