Preview

The Davidson Wildcats will host the Rhode Island Rams for an A-10 battle this Saturday.

Rhode Island comes into Atlantic Ten play at 9-3, with solid non-conference over wins Harvard and Boston College. The Rams returned to play last Sunday after having their first three conference games rescheduled, but they still may have rust to shake off.

Davidson has been on tear since starting the season 1-2. The Wildcats have ripped off 10 straight wins, including a strong-road victory over Alabama. This team has a chance to be very profitable and surprising as the season grows on.

Rhode Island (9-3)

Jeremy Sheppard runs the offense from the lead guard spot. He scored a season-high 25 points in the road win over Milwaukee, and he leads Rhode Island in points (11.1) and assists (2.8).

The play of the Mitchell brothers up front will heavily factor into the outcome of this one. Mahki Mitchell double-doubled in the win over Milwaukee, and he leads URI in rebounding (6.9), while scoring 10.5 ppg.

Makhel Mitchell mans the middle, and causes a lot of trouble for opposing offenses. The 6'10 big man blocked a school-record eight shots in the win over Boston College, and he ranks sixth in the nation at 2.8 bpg.

Davidson (10-3)

The Wildcats are one of the most efficient teams in the country, scoring 78.8 ppg, while shooting 50.1% from the field, and 42.7% from deep.

Their powered by the froncourt duo of Hyunjung Lee and Luka Brajkovic. Lee posted his fourth double-double of the season in the win over St. Joe's and he leads the team in scoring (17.5) and rebounding (6.7).

Brajkovic is averaging career-bests of 12.1 ppg and 2.4 apg, while tying the team lead with 6.7 rpg.

Foster Loyer is fittingly a Curry-esque sniper. The 6'2 guard scored a career-high 35 points and hit eight threes in the win over Northeastern, and his scoring average is up a whopping 13 points, up to 16.2 ppg.

Prediction

If Davidson makes Rhode Island play at their pace, then the Rams could be in for a long night. They just don't possess the same level of talent offensively, and we like Davidson at home during this current stretch of play.

Take Davidson's spread for this matchup.

PICK: Davidson -5.5
