Preview
The Rockies square off in game two of this three-game road series against the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves. The Rockies have been on a good run recently and continued that by winning narrowly last night to go 1-0 up. While not mathematically out, Colorado's postseason hopes are already over so any win now especially against a team boasting an over .500 record, is a moral victory. The Braves will be disappointed in the result last particularly because it came at home. They still control their division and the Phillies' bad form has seen them put some distance between the two, but the Braves will want to end the season on a strong run of games.
Pitching matchup
Rockies
Antonio Senzatela (4-9, 4.11 ERA) Antonio Senzatela will take the mound first up for the Rockies. The 5th year pitcher starts his 25th game of the season and has a 4.11 ERA across 138 innings pitched. He also has a 1.30 WHIP in 2021. Senzatela has 93 strikeouts compared to only 23 walks this season. In one game against the Rockies this season, he had three ERs off six hits across seven innings pitched.
Braves
Huascar Ynoa (4-5, 3.22 ERA) Huascar Ynoa will start for the 14th time this season. The third-year pitcher has a career-best ERA of 3.22 this season following a 5.82 ERA in 2020 and an 18.00 ERA in two games in his 2019 rookie season. He's already played the Rockies once this season pitching 5.2 innings and surrendering five hits for four ERs, claiming five strikeouts and walking one.
Prediction
These teams are now even in their last 10 games both winning and losing 5 games apiece. The Braves home record isn't exemplary but the Rockies are even worse on the road. Atlanta has gotten back into stride in their last few games so last night's narrow defeat is actually an encouraging sign.
PICK: Braves (-208)
