Preview

The Phoenix Suns will take on the youthful Houston Rockets this Sunday evening. The Suns are favored to take this Western Conference battle by 9 points on the road here.

Houston Rockets

The Rockets have run through veteran Eric Gordon and three young pieces in Christian Wood, Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr.

Wood has his best game of the season against the Lakers. The sixth-year vet out of UNLV scored 26 points and grabbed 16 boards in the two-point loss, and he leads HTown in both points (16.9) and rebounds (11.8).

Rookie Jalen Green had a big game against Detroit, but he came back to earth with a subpar performance against Portland last time out. Green's inconsistencies are growing pains, but he'll be just fine. The $2 overall pick is up too 14.5 ppg for the season.

Kevin Porter Jr. came in late last season and contributed immediately. KPJ 's playing a bit out of position this season, but he's averaging a well-rounded 13.3 ppg, 4.2 rpg, and 5.2 apg.

Phoenix Suns

The Suns have started the month of November ripping off six straight wins, and the defending Western Conference Champions are beginning to hit their stride.

Devin Booker looks to lead the Suns in scoring for a fifth straight season. He paces Phoenix with 22.6 ppg, while adding 5.3 apg, and a career-best 6.3 rpg.

Veteran point guard Chris Paul continues to be a steady presence in his 17th season. CP3 leads the NBA in assists with 11.2 apg, and he's scored in double figures in six of his last seven games.

Mikal Bridges is averaging a career high 14.6 ppg on 40% shooting from deep.

DeAndre Ayton's presence has been missing, but JaVale McGee and Frank Kaminsky have really stepped up this month. The former Wisconsin great is coming off of a career-high 31 points against Portland. Phoenix doesn't necessaily flow better without Big Ayton offensively, but their spacing has been much better.

Prediction

The Suns look like their in midseason form, and it's unlikely this young Rockets team will alter that this evening. Look for them to take care of Houston on the road here, and cover the spread.

PICK: Phoenix Suns -8.5
