Preview

The Kansas Jayhawks will look to upset a reelingTexas Longhorns team this weekend at DKR Stadium.

Kansas began their season with a close win over South Dakota, and things have gone south since. After playing admirably against Oklahoma on the road a few weeks ago, they Jayhawks have suffered two large Big 12 losses.

Texas began the season 4-1, and they looked like they were about win their fifth game but a terrible collapse against Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry has truly sent their season in the wrong direction. They enter this hoe bout with a cross-country date in Morgantown next weekend, so they have to stop the bleeding here.

Offensive matchup
Kansas (1-8)

With starting signal caller Jason Bean's still status in doubt for the weekend, KU may have to send out sophomore Jalon Daniels this weekend in Austin. Daniels was solid during garbage time against Kansas State, going 13-19 for 105 yards and tossing their lone touchdown.

Freshman Devin Neal gets the majority of the backfield work. He had a big game against Oklahoma, rushing for 100 yards and two scores, but he's often not left with much room to run. Neal leads the team with 505 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Kwamie Lassiter II also played huge against the Sooners, and he caught six passes for 82 yards, including a 24-yard score. The senior wideout leads the team with 36 catches and 439 receiving yards.

Texas (4-5)

Casey Thompson's lingering thumb injury led to head coach Steve Sarkasian putting Hudson Card back in the lineup. The redshirt freshman went 14-23 for 101 yards and a touchdown, and a breakout game here could land him the starting role for the rest of the season.

The Longhorns also took a big hit in the backfield last weekend when star Bijan Robinson went down. The sophomore back has been the focal point of the Longhorns run-heavy attack, and he leads the Big 12 in both rushing yards (1,057) and touchdowns (11). Junior back Roschon Johnson will likely step up if he's absent for this one.

Xavier Worthy has a bright future at wideout for Texas. The 6'1 freshman scored for the fourth time in four games last weekend, and he leads the Longhorns with 36 catches, 696 receiving yards, and eight touchdowns.

Prediction

We won't overthink what could be a simple play at DKR this weekend. With a full week of preparation for Hudson Card, the Longhorns should be fine at home here. Kansas enters with their own quarterback questions, and they are sure to have trouble with an angry Texas defense. Look for the Longhorns to flex their muscles here.

PICK: Texas -30.5
