Preview

Tonight we have the Grizzlies traveling to Washington to take on the Wizards. The Grizzlies are off to a nice start to begin the season and will look to pick up their 3rd win in a row tonight against the Wizards. The Wizards come into this game also off to a nice start to the year albeit dropping their last 2 games. Both teams will look to get another one in the win column in what should be a close game throughout.

Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies come into this game fully healthy and looking to improve on last season. Ja Morant has come out on a fire to start the year and is looking to dip his feet in the all star pool. He will need to continue to be on tonight as the guys around him don't offer much in terms of being able to "go off" on any given night. Jaren Jackson, De'Anthony Melton, and Desmond Bane will be tasked with putting up some points and playmaking when Morant is off the floor. Jackson has been a dissappointment to start the year as he continues to battle foul trouble which severely limits his minutes, though they might not want to run him out very long due to his injury history as well. Bane is a formidable shooter that can score and I'd also put Melton in that category as well. Steven Adams will be the one along Jackson tasked with locking down the front court against the likes of Montrez Harrel and Daniel Gafford. I see that as a matchup in favor of the Grizzlies as Adams is still a good defener and Jackson can stretch the floor. This game comes down to if Ja Morant can stay hot and if his surrounding pieces can step it up as well as they aren't the most terrifying offense in the league.

Washington Wizards

The Wizards come into this game and will be without Davis Bertans, and Rui Hachimura who hasn't played this season yet. This team will be led by Bradley Beal and Spencer Dinwiddie as both guards stuff the stat sheet and can go off on any given night. Both could provide problems for this Grizzlies team. Kyle Kuzma is always a candidate to go off any night, and he's also stepped it up in the rebounding department this season. Harrel is making himself at home as he continues to dominate down low in his role off the bench that see's him getting starter minutes. This is a more defensively sound Wizards team than last years when Russel Westbrook was there. They play at a slower pace, and in turn have been able to step it up on the defensive side of the ball. They will look to continue their nice start tongiht when they host the Grizzlies.

Prediction

I'll be rolling with the Wizards tonight as they have better players on the offensive side of the ball and they also are proving to be better on defense than one might have thought. I expect Ja Morant to still get his but it's his surrounding pieces that I'm worried about.
