Preview

The Portland Trail Blazers will travel to the Toyota Center and take on the Houston Rockets this Friday.

Portland Trail Blazers

It's been rough start for All-Star point guard Damian Lillard. The former Weber State guard is averaging 20.3 ppg, which is his lowest since his rookie season. The talented three point sniper is bound to get things going soon, and his last three outings are signs of it.

C.J. McCollum looks like hes on his way to averaging 20+ ppg for the seventh season in a row. McCollum, one of the league's most crafty scorers, poured in 28 points against Houston in the last matchup.

The supporting cast in the Northwest is really thin without Melo, but big Jusuf Nurkic gives them a reliable post presence, while Normal Powell and Anfernee Simons are averaging career-highs in points.

Houston Rockets

The Rockets have run through three young pieces in Christian Wood, Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr.

Wood has his best game of the season against the Lakers. The sixth-year vet out of UNLV scored 26 points and grabbed 16 boards in the two-point loss, and he leads HTown in both points (17.7) and rebounds (11.5).

Rookie Jalen Green proved to be huge down the stretch for the Rockets. The #2 overall pick scored 24 points and shot 5-10 from deep, including two clutch threes to put a scare on the Lakers. He scoed 23 points against Detroit, and he's up too 14.5 ppg for the season.

Kevin Porter Jr. came in late last season and contributed immediately. KPJ 's playing a bit out of position this season, but he's averaging a well-rounded 12.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg, and 5.8 apg.

Prediction

Portland appeared to be figuring things out, but their road struggles are too much to ignore here. The Trail Blazers have lost all six games as visitors this season, and dropping a seventh to a youthful team on a Friday nite does not sound unlikely. The Rockets are still a little then at the top, and we don't feel comfortable trusting them at just +155. We'll spot them the points.

Take the Rockets spread thi Friday, and even hover over the moneyline, as Portland could very well drop a 7th straight road contest.

PICK: Houston Rokcets +6.5
