The Duquense Dukes will look to get back on track when they host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies this Friday night.

The Bonnies hopped out to a 8-3 start during non-conference play, picking up victories over Marquette, Boise State and Clemson along the way. After opening A-10 play with two straight wins, they ran into trouble on the road with Dayton. The Bonnies fell behind early and struggled offensively in the second half, losing 68-50.

The Dukes have dropped their last two games after opening A-10 play with a victory over UMass. The Dukes hosted Dayton last weekend, and they ran into a wall, losing 72-52.

St. Bonaventure Bonnies

Osun Osunniyi anchors a veteran, senior filled starting unit, that has played together for more than three seasons. The 6'10 big is coming off of his best game of the season, playing 43 minutes, scoring 15 points and grabbing 15 boards against the Explorers. Osunniyi is up to 10.4 ppg and 7.3 rpg on the season.

Jaren Holmes, Kyle Lofton, and Dominick Welch are names we will all be hearing when March rolls around. There aren't many teams in the country that can match the production St. Bonaventure's gets from their backcourt.

Holmes might just be one of the best players in the country. The 6'5 senior is extremely versatile, and has the ability to score from all three levels. He double-doubled in wins over Marquette and Boise State, and he posts strong lines of 15.9 ppg, 6.5 rpg, and 4.4 apg.

Lofton has a string on the offense, leading the team in assists (5.8). The 6'3 guard can also fill it up, as he scores 15.9 ppg, tying the team lead.

Welch is the true definition 3-and-D, as over 70% of his shots have been threes. The 6'5 guard has hit four or more three in each of the past four games, and averaging 11.7 ppg and 5.6 rpg.

Jalen Adaway has elevated his game since coming over from Miami-Ohio. The 6'5 guard double-doubled against UConn, and he's leading SBU in rebounding at 7.5 rpg, while scoring 13.5 ppg.

Duquense Dukes

Leon Ayers III leads the team in scoring after coming over for Mercer this past summer. The 6'5 guard scored 23 or more points in wins over Bradley, American, and UC Irvine, and his play factor heavily into the Dukes success

Transfers Kevin Easley Jr. (TCU) and Tre Williams (Indiana State) start in the front court for the Dukes. Easley Jr. is a work horse who leads the team in minutes, while scoring 12.2 ppg and grabbing 6.5 rpg. Williams double-doubled in the loss to DePaul and he leads Duquense in rebounding (6.6).

Freshman guards Amir Spears and Jackie Johnson III have given the backcourt some more life. Spears has scored 20 points in back-to-back games, and he's second on the team in scoring (12.3). Johnson III has started to receive more playing time, and he scored a career-high 27 points in the win over UMass.

Prediction

The Bonnies have been a profitable team this year, and this spot here gives them a chance to get back to their ways. The Dukes will have no answer for Osun Osunniyi down low, and their talented backcourt is due for a big performance after struggling at Dayton on Tuesday.
