Preview

The Vanderbilt Commodores will travel to Oxford and take on the Ole Miss Rebels for a SEC battle this weekend.

It has been a terrible season for Vanderbilt. They're 0-6 in conference play and just can't to keep up with the powers of the SEC. Note, the Commodores have quietly blessed bettors by covering four of their last six spreads.

The Rebels have the look of a dark horse contender. Ole Miss followed up spoiling Hugh Freeze's homecoming, with a dominant 29-19 victory over Texas A&M.

Offensive matchup
Vanderbilt (2-8)

Mike Wright has brought some sense of optimism to the quarterback over the past few weeks. The dual-threat QB had a big game against Mizzou, tossing three touchdowns while rushing for 152 rushing yards.

Freshman back Patrick Smith leads the team in rushing after a pair of strong back-to-back performances. Smith is gained 84 yards last week against Kentucky,  and 95 yards & a score against Mizzou.

Chris Pierce Jr. leads an underwhelming group of pass catchers. The senior wideout paces the team with 43 catches for 496 receiving yards.

Ole Miss (8-2)

Matt Corral is one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He rebounded well last weekend in front of tons of NFL scouts, going 20-27 for 324 yards and a touchdown toss. He's been really impressive in home spots, and this big game presents a chance for him cement his draft status as QB1.

Corral's having a monster season, throwing for 2,774 with 17 touchdowns to two interceptions, while leading Ole Miss with 528 rushing yards and ten rushing touchdowns.

Ole Miss possess a talented running back trio in Jerrion Ealy, Henry Parrish Jr, and Snoop Conner. Ealy had a big game against a talented A&M defense, rushing for 152 yards on 24 carries.. Conner is tied with Corral for the team lead in rushing touchdowns (10), while Parrish Jr. has gained 529 rushing yards.

Dontario Drummond continues to be a stud at wideout, and he leads the team by a mile with 46 catches for 707 receiving yards, but he missed last weekend's bout. His presence will be huge, as the Rebels may have to lean more towards the ground game against a physical A&M team.

Prediction

Ole Miss is rolling right now and on the fringe of their first CFB appearance. In what will be their final home game of the season, the Rebels should come out strong and start fast. With the Egg Bowl looming next weekend in Starkville, Ole Miss can't let their foot off the gas yet.

Trust Ole Miss with this margin, and take their spread this weekend.

PICK: Ole Miss -36.5
